The category is crowded with products that sound similar and are not. Here is the honest boundary, because knowing what something is not is often more useful than the sales copy.
Not a background check
A background check is a regulated consumer report used to decide about someone: hiring, renting, lending, insuring. In the United States those are governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, which imposes obligations on both the agency and the employer. We are not a consumer reporting agency, our reports are not consumer reports, and using one for an eligibility decision is prohibited by our terms. It is also the one use we would refuse to build for.
Not a people search
We do not offer a way to look up a stranger. Every search is confirmed as being about you, or about someone who has given you written permission, and that confirmation is time-stamped and stored with the job. There is no input field where a third party's name goes, and we never query data brokers or people-search sites as sources.
Not identity theft protection or dark web monitoring
Those products watch for your details appearing in breach dumps and credential leaks. We do not touch breach data, leaked credentials or dark web sources at all. If that is what you need, buy it from someone who does it properly — it is a different job.
Not a score
We produce no reputation score, risk rating, trust level, exposure meter or confidence band. Scores are seductive because they turn a messy result into a single number that appears to demand action, and they are the reason this industry has a credibility problem. Every entry in a report is a possible match until you confirm it, and it carries its source, the retrieval time and the reason it matched. Judgement stays with you.
What it is
One search across a published list of public sources, five cited categories, a review step where you decide what is actually you, a neutral summary written only from what was retrieved, and a PDF you can delete whenever you want. Where something can be changed, corrected or taken down, the report says how and links to the form. That is the whole product.
